Scripture Highlights
Genesis 3: Humanity’s fall and God’s first promise of redemption
Matthew 3: John’s call to repentance and Jesus’ baptism
Ezra 3: Rebuilding the altar and laying the temple foundation after exile
Acts 3: The lame man healed and Peter’s invitation to “repent…that times of refreshing may come” (v. 19)
Reflection
Today’s four chapters trace a powerful arc:
Fall: In Genesis 3, sin enters the world, fracturing our fellowship with God—yet even here He promises a Savior who will crush the serpent’s head.
Call: Centuries later, John the Baptist cries, “Repent!” (Matthew 3). Turning from sin prepares the way for Jesus, who humbly identifies with us in baptism.
Foundation: Returning exiles in Ezra 3 rebuild the altar and lay a new foundation for worship, signaling hope and renewed covenant life.
Refreshment: In Acts 3, a beggar is restored, crowds are amazed, and Peter proclaims that repentance brings “times of refreshing” in Christ.
The pattern is clear: where sin once reigned, God offers repentance, restoration, and a fresh beginning. Whatever “fall” you may feel today—guilt, regret, brokenness—the Lord invites you to repent, receive His forgiveness, and step into the new foundation He provides. Times of refreshing are still available for every believer who turns to Him.
Prayer
Father, I confess my sin and my need of You. Thank You for sending Jesus, the promised Savior, and for the refreshing You offer through repentance. Rebuild and renew my heart today so that my life rests on the sure foundation of Christ.
In Jesus name,
Amen.
